Letters

Those who are on steering are writing letters to their loved ones.

Arnav Rana writes a letter to his landlord for their discussions on careers and life.

Hi Uncle

I remember those days when you used to tell me that we should not compare newspapers with milk packets—neither for their prices and nor for the value. I knew what you meant but now I can understand it a lot better.

You told me to focus on science not as a school subject but as a life skill. Same for carpentry. While I was trying to find the utility in learning a skill, you taught me that the learning a skill itself is a life skill.

“You will find it one day,” I remember your words.

After my school, I had to select my subjects for the college. My friends advised me to study science and my family gave me a free hand to study anything.

You know what I found?

My steering. Now it is not about my mood or weather or friends or the scope of growth. It is about who I am. Steering has helped me understand what you meant during our discussions when you were mowing your lawn.

Steering has taken pretense out of my life and career decisions. I might not do well even after completing my education but then I will definitely not blame my college or degree or subjects. Steering makes sure that I am doing what I should do.

I am on the move now—for my own dreams. Steering does not mean that I can relax—there will be anxieties or hurdles, but I feel more prepared now, and for a purpose. Steering gives me the wholeness.

Thank you, uncle.
